Poughkeepsie has just what you want. The Learning Center, located in Family
Partnership Center on Hamilton Street, is a volunteer organization dedicated
to teaching computer skills to older adults in a relaxed, supportive environment
especially tailored to the older learner. It is one of over
220
Learning Centers that exist throughout the United States to provide older adults
education for
and access to computer technology, and is supported by
SeniorNet,
a national nonprofit organization. These Learning Centers, involving more
than 4,500 volunteers, provide a place where seniors can enroll in computer
classes taught by their peers and learn at a relaxed pace. Since 1986,
over 100,000 older adults have been introduced to computer technologies
through SeniorNet programs.
